Fr. Jean Mawal was born and raised in Australia. He is married to Kh. Rita and together have three children. He was ordained into the diaconate in 2006, and into the priesthood in 2008, and has served in many parishes across New South Wales and Victoria. Currently he is serving at St Paul's Church in Dandenong, VIC.

In 2015 Fr. Jean completed theological studies at St Andrew's Greek Orthodox Theological College in Redfern, NSW.

In addition to the parish based ministry for over a decade, Fr. Jean has been instrumental in ministries on an Archdiocese level. Examples of Fr. Jean’s irreplaceable work on Archdiocesan ministries include Pre-marriage classes, the Catechumen curriculum, Antiochian Christian Orthodox Youth (ACOY) group of Victoria, and the Liturgical committee where work is being performed to uniform our divine services and prayer books.
