Celebrating Our Volunteers

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” - Philippians 2:3-4

This passage beautifully captures the spirit of our Sunday lunch volunteers, and for their humble service throughout 2025, for which Fr Jean, Kh Rita and the Ladies Committee hosted a special thank you dinner on Tuesday the 9th of December, 2025.

Over 55 people were in attendance, representing the dedicated efforts of over 70 volunteers who make our weekly Sunday lunches possible. The night began with fellowship and a shared meal of love, offering a chance to express profound gratitude for the sacrifices made to feed our church family every Sunday.

Fr Jean delivered a heartfelt message, thanking the volunteers for their commitment, which sometimes involves serving up to 170 people. He noted that their consistent service, under the blessing of God and patronage of St Paul, has helped strengthen our community and even contributed to the successful purchase of the land next door.

To honour their dedication, each volunteer received a personalised apron customised with each volunteer's name and this year’s motto: "Together in peace, love and unity, serving God and our community."

Fr Jean concluded by wishing the families a blessed Nativity and a happy New Year, praying for continued growth and a fruitful year to come. May all our selfless Sunday lunch volunteers be rewarded a hundredfold for their incredible service and beautiful example of valuing others above themselves.
